kitchen diaries 2
(to Bea and the gang)
…It’s just that I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around doing my course. I love cooking no doubt but I’ve been thinking WILL I DO THIS EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE? Will I make a career out of this? I try to stop myself from thinking I’m good with the theory part,I’m analytical and I’m book smart because I’m here to do kitchen work. It may seem like endless lessons of chopping, braising and baking but it’s really becoming a lesson about humility, respect, being organized and patience. And these skills can be transferable to my next job, regardless of what it is.
Anthony Bourdian said that he learned all his good work habits in the kitchen. Just think that your current jobs are your “kitchens” and that you’ll acquire a few lessons even if you won’t get richer/successful immediately.
